Condoms As The Predominant Choice Of Contraceptives

In the past several years, almost all countries around the world have been bogged by a variety of problems and challenges arising from rapidly rising population rates. With the growing population comes several other related problems like high unemployment rate, reduction of opportunities, overcrowding and eventually, poverty. Almost all nations, especially those in the third world have rushed to adopt several programs for distributing contraceptives.

Many sexually active couples prefer the use of condoms as contraceptives. That is because the rubber latex items are considered the most inexpensive and easily accessible birth control tool. Many couples are also choosing to use birth control pills, but in the recent times, it has been established that regular intake of such medications may lead to noticeable and adverse side effects on the part of the women.

Ligation and vasectomy are also options but not too many people are comfortable and are willing to undergo surgical operations for the simple sake of being able to forego contraceptives. With the use of condoms, it has been noted that there is no side effects on both partners. The item also makes sexual intercourse safe and possible regardless of time and venue.

Through the years, there have been various issues being tagged with the use of condoms as contraceptives. There are several organizations around the world that have been openly opposing the use of contraceptives for birth control, not just condoms. These groups particularly are staunchly opposing the use of contraceptives for birth control. In fact, these groups oppose any form of birth control because its officials claim that it is always beneficial for people to procreate further.

Are condoms as contraceptives effective in curtailing and preventing pregnancies? The answer is a resounding yes. Although, there are cases when condoms fail to prevent the fertilization of egg cells and sperm cells. According to standard scientific studies about this form of contraceptives, there are about 2% of condom users who experience pregnancy yearly.

The use of condoms as contraceptives also take effect with regards to the awareness and knowledge of the users. People who use the contraceptives but inappropriately are at risk of still having pregnancies. It is estimated that about 5% to 8% of such couples still experience unwanted pregnancy.

Thus, it can be inferred that the use of condoms as contraceptives still need to be discussed in public. Even if people know the value of and effectiveness of condoms as contraceptives, there are more measures that need to be implemented to make sure the efforts would be working.

There are several problems that are identified in the use of condoms as contraceptives. For one, condoms are sometimes ineffective because of defects. Yes, it is possible that there are condoms that easily breaks and tears apart when in use. There are also complaints about loss or reduction in sensation. While more users, especially the younger ones, are still uneducated and unfamiliar on how to properly wear the contraceptives. These issues can only be resolved through an open dialogue and conversation about contraceptive use in the world today.
